In 1901, a visionary young man, Lawrie Muthu Krishna embarked on a mission to empower thousands of students in Ceylon. Traditional academic education was out of reach for many due to financial constraints. Lawrie established the very first private Business College in Ceylon – The Polytechnic, is fondly referred to as The Poly.
The Poly became a clear favorite for those seeking an alternative to University. It became a statement to say “I go to the Poly”. Edlocate is one of the premier International University representatives with a credible track record. It officially represents over 60 universities in Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Canada & Malaysia. The company formed in 1999 has been offering Study Abroad opportunities to students in Sri Lanka & The Maldives through five offices it has established; four in Sri Lanka & one in Maldives. Renu has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical) from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. She lived in New York City for 14 years and worked in an Engineering Company. She moved back to Sri Lanka with her family in 2016 making a switch in her career joining her family business in Education.
She enjoys her new role immensely and steadfastly believes in supporting and developing educational opportunities in Sri Lanka. She plans to carry forward the vision and mission of her great grand-father who started the first Private Business College in Sri Lanka. the Polytechnic Pvt Ltd, a tertiary and vocational institute that has serviced the youth of Sri Lanka for over 120 years.
A fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Palitha served in the Air Force as a commissioned officer following studies in the Colombo University. After serving in senior management positions in several private sector companies, he was an investor director of the domestic airline Lionair and in 1999 formed Edlocate Pvt Ltd. A dual citizen of Australia and Sri Lanka he has been guiding Edlocate to be one of the prime foreign university representatives & a strong player in the Study Abroad business in Sri Lanka and the Maldives
Sujit Sivasundaram FBA is a British Sri Lankan historian and academic. He is currently a professor of world history at the University of Cambridge.
He was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize for medieval, early modern, and modern history in 2012. He was a fellow and council member of the Royal Historical Society (RHS). He delivered the 2019 RHS Prothero Lecture. He was co-editor of The Historical Journal and was associate editor of the Journal of British Studies. He is on the editorial boards of History Australia, The International History Review, and Medical History.
He won the 2021 British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding for Waves Across the South. He is a member of the Editorial Board for Past & Present. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2023.
Niroshan has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Havard Business School. He is the Group Chief Customer Officer of Stretchline Holdings Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Thilaka is a senior academic who has served the Hong Kong Polytechnic University ( POLYU) for 20 years. He has served the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering and subsequently the School of Business. He has also functioned as the Alternate Director of the Quality and Reliability Centre of the Polytechnic University.
Prior to joining the POLYU he served as the Director general of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and also as the Chairman and Managing Director of the State Hardware Corporation of Sri Lanka. After his return to Sri Lanka in 2001 he served as a Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau
(CECB) and as the CEO of the Imperial Institute of Higher Education a Private Tertiary Education Institute associated with the University of Wales UK, Salford University of UK and University of Western Australia.
He has a PHd and an MSc from the Cranfield University in the UK and is a Fellow of the Institutes of Mechanical and Production Engineers of the UK. He is also a member of the Council of Engineers, UK.
Ms. Primali De Silva is a distinguished administrator with over 25 years of comprehensive experience in finance, market research, and office administration, having worked across Austria, Australia, and Sri Lanka. She has studied Business Administration at Swinburne University in Australia. Upon setting off her career in the airline, market research, and pathology industries, Primali made a pivotal transition into education, furthering her expertise with a Diploma in Preschool and Early Childhood Education, as well as specialized training in teaching children with special educational needs.
Primali has spent the past 18 years honing her skills in the field of early childhood education, with notable leadership roles in Singapore and Sri Lanka, where she served as Headmistress of a renowned international school. With her deep commitment to educational excellence, she has cultivated a reputation as a visionary administrator, dedicated to the expansion and enhancement of academic programs and initiatives aimed at fostering student success and achievement.
Currently, Ms. De Silva brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as a leader in educational operations, offering progressive oversight and strategic direction to ensure the continued growth and development of academic initiatives.
Mr Sivasundaram is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.), The Council of Engineering Institutions (England). Member (M.I.Chem.E) of The Institution of Chemical Engineers, (England).
He was previously the Head of the Planning & Development Division of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation which included major project implementation, engineering, statistics and economics sections.
He was subsequently a Consultant related to import, storage, supply and consumption of petroleum products, off-shore operations and environment specifically for Ceylon Petroleum
Corporation and Ceylon Electricity Board.
He is currently a Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic Pvt Ltd.

She is a Retired Professor in Early Childhood & Primary Education from the Open University of Sri Lanka. She holds a Doctor and Master of Philosophy in Education from University of Colombo, Sri-Lanka. She also has a Master of Education.
Her research focuses on Early Childhood and Primary Education, with an emphasis on understanding the developmental and educational processes in young children. She employs a range of qualitative methods, including observations, interviews, and discussions, to explore how children learn and develop in different educational settings. Her work aims to uncover the factors that contribute to effective teaching practices and to understand the experiences and perspectives of both children and educators in early learning environments.
She has published many chapters, articles and journals related to her work.
Mekala is a Life Long Learner and qualified teacher, currently working for The Hong Kong International School (HKIS) in Hong Kong since 2007. Before Joining HKIS she worked as the Principal and Head Teacher of a Community Kindergarten in Hong Kong for children aged 2 -6 years. Prior to this, she lectured at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Dept. of Business Studies) as part of the responsibilities of PHd Candidate. Mekala has gained a wealth of knowledge, practice and experience in Primary Education administration and teaching.
Mekala’s Academic background is: BSc(Hons) from Exeter University in the UK ( Second Class Upper Division) in 1994. MPhil Marketing from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1999. CELTYL British Council of Hong Kong in 2001. PGDE ( Primary Years), Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia 2002.
Has many years of experience as an academic and as a senior manager in the industry. He has served the Open University of Sri Lanka and the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka. He is currently on the Academic Council of the University of Vocational Technology ( UoVT).’
He has a BSc( Hons) and a MSc. from the Moratuwa Campus Sri Lanka. He is a Chartered Engineer.
